PROGRAM NOTES
"La Torre Preziosa" (which is usually translated
as "The Treasure Tower") was composed in 1990 and reorchestrated
in 1994. It is based on four ancient Chinese poems by Li Po,
Lu Yun and Kao Tzu, which had struck me a few years earlier for
their sense of communion with the universe, their depth, and
their lyricism. The title refers to a Buddhist concept according
to which everybody has a "Treasure Tower" inside, i.e.
a potential of wisdom, purity and happiness that needs only to
be tapped into.
PROGRAMMA DI SALA
"La Torre Preziosa" e' stato composto nel 1990 e
riorchestrato nel 1994. E' basato su quattro antiche poesie cinesi
di Li Po, Lu Yun e Kao Tzu, che mi avevano colpito anni prima
per il loro senso di comunione con l'universo, la loro profondita'
, e il loro lirismo. Il titolo fa riferimento a un concetto buddista
secondo il quale ogni persona ha dentro di se' una "Torre
Preziosa", vale a dire un potenziale di saggezza, purezza
e gioia che deve soltanto essere risvegliato.
